Kirkeskat

33 55 60 80 / 33 55 60 12

Church Taxes

Support the Church Financially

Thanks to your financial support, the Church is able to carry out its work - now and in the future.

If everyone pays their church taxes, we are able to meet our actual expenses. We are able to initiate new evangelization efforts and to donate charitably to, for instance, people in dire need, or Christians in the mission fields.

The diocese is at all times financially responsible for publishing the magazine Catholic News, and for operating the pastoral center and other institutions which everyone benefits from.

Church Taxes Benefit Your Parish

Every time you pay 1000 kroner in church taxes, a total of 850 kroner goes toward your parish and toward covering your priests' salaries, while 150 kroner goes toward activites of the diocese at large, including renovations of buildings and daily expenses.

You can sign up as a church tax contributer online, or you can contact Lilian Munch Jacobsen, Head of Church Tax Payments at the diocese's main office: tel. 33 55 60 80 / 33 55 60 12.

When you contribute to the Catholic Church, it will be registered as a charitable donation which means that you can deduct it on your tax return.

The Catholic Church does not receive church taxes through the National Tax Payment System. If your tax bill indicates that you are paying church taxes, this means that you are contributing to the National Church of Denmark which in turn means that you are a registered member of the National Church of Denmark (Folkekirken).

Paying church taxes to the National Church of Denmark is not required for Catholics. If you discover that you are paying church taxes to the National Church of Denmark, you must contact the parish priest at your local National Church of Denmark parish with a copy of your birth certificate. He or she will process your request. Once your resignation is registered, you will no longer be paying taxes to the National Church of Denmark.
